SPEL Detention
On-site stormwater detention (OSD) is required so that during peak rain events the run-off from developed areas that have now less impervious surfaces, and reduced infiltration do not result in increased run-off from site.
Sites are modelled for the increases in potential run-off and these capacities are specified to be captured in underground onsite stormwater detention tanks. The tanks are designed to capture the increase run-off volumes during storm events and then slowly let them go once the storm has passed. They are one of the important strategies councils utilise for flood mitigation.

What Stormwater Detention system works best?
At SPEL Stormwater we pride ourselves on the level of expertise we offer clients, and our broad range of solutions to meet flood mitigation development guidelines and on-site detention requirements.
Breadth of Product Offering:
Our clients benefit from SPEL Stormwater’s broad range of stormwater detention assets. SPEL’s breadth and depth of experience in the detention market enable clients to be offered optimal solutions – our flexibility in product delivery ensures each design can meet your specific on-site needs. The result is detention configurations that are the best fit for your site’s detention volume with consideration for all on-site requirements.
Combined Detention & Filtration Solutions:
DA requirements for Stormwater Detention are often accompanied by water quality objectives and environmental compliance. As a recognised leader in the supply of council-approved Stormwater Filtration equipment, we ensure the design of your OSD is optimally combined with tertiary filtration for function, ease of maintenance and investment.
